Tuina is a hands on treatment that uses the same theories as Traditional Chinese Medicine. It can be considered as an ancient Chinese medically based massage. Practitioners use a number of techniques such as traction, kneading, pressing, vibrating, etc. with the hands, fingers, elbows, wrists and knees on meridians and acupuncture points to stimulate and move the qi throughout the body. Like other Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques this style of treatments helps to activate and blood into the muscles, tissues and joints. It is good for both chronic and acute ailments externally (physical in nature ie. tennis elbow) and internally (ie. digestive disturbance).
